Limestone FCU continues to provide members a convenient option for recycling.
At their main branch located at 131 River St, Manistique, MI 49854, Limestone FCU has set up a mini recycling facility in their vestibule where members of the community can bring plastic, paper, and other recyclable items. The dedicated staff at Limestone FCU voluntarily sort and store the items at their main office.
As a member-owned cooperative, Limestone FCU recognizes their responsibility to their members and the communities they serve. Jennifer C. Watson, CEO at Limestone FCU, says, “We have a long history of participating in activities that may be outside of the norm of financial services, however, will provide long-term benefits to our community. Recycling is one example – a mini recycling facility located in our vestibule. We accept clear plastic, cardboard rolls, and provide a shred bin. While our vestibule may look a bit messy at times, we are proud of our contributions to recycling in Schoolcraft County.”
The recycling service at Limestone FCU is entirely volunteer-based, with their team working diligently to sort and store the items, and Swanson Storage & Services handling the transportation to the Escanaba Recycling Center. Rex & Judy Slingsby also contribute by transporting the cardboard rolls to Lakestate Industries in Escanaba. These rolls aid in the creation of the famous Yooper Fire Starters. Limestone FCU appreciates any help from the community and encourages anyone passing through Escanaba to stop by and grab a few bags if they have the time and space to spare.
